You dont need a Boss adapter. Any adapter that does 220V to 9 or 110 to 9 (depending on your country), should work. Just pay attention to the jack that connects to the pedal it must obviously fit. Have fun.

Dead batteries in pedals means theres no power going to your pedal, therefore no signal. The same goes for active pickups in guitars. Check that the battery is not causing the problem here. Replace the battery and see if that helps.
