What is tang stamps?
As early as the Case Brothers began making knives in upstate New York during the late 19th century, they were also methodically scrawling symbolic designs into their blades. These unique markings became known as tang stamps.
What do the numbers on a case knife mean?
You can find the Case knife pattern number stamped on the tang of your knifes blade. The first number indicates the type of material used to make the handle. The second digit gives the number of blades. The last two or more digits indicate the factory pattern number.
